DEADLINE EXTENDED: Join the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Join the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board

Help Shape the Future of Care. Join the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board!

Some opportunities ask for your time. Others ask for your leadership. This is one of those moments.

At the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, we are entering a new phase, one that calls for thoughtful leadership, strong governance, and a shared commitment to enhancing care for residents, patients, and families across our community.

That’s why we are currently seeking new members to join our The Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board of Directors!

Why This Work Matters

Deer Lodge Centre holds a unique place in Manitoba’s healthcare system. It’s a home, a place of healing, and for many families, a place where some of life’s most meaningful moments unfold.

Jason Alsip, Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board Member

“You get to give back just by being part of a table of such ambitious, smart people.” – Jason Alsip, Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board Member

Behind the scenes, the Foundation plays a critical role in supporting that care.

From funding essential medical equipment to enhancing spaces that bring comfort and dignity to residents, every decision made at the board level has a direct and lasting impact.

This is governance with purpose.

More Than a Volunteer Role: The Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board

Board service is often described as volunteering, but here, it’s something more.

It’s an opportunity to bring your professional experience into a space where it can truly make a difference. It’s a chance to contribute to strategic decisions that influence the quality of care, the strength of the organization, and the experience of those who rely on it every day. And it’s about being part of a group of individuals who care deeply about doing this work well.

Who We’re Looking For

We are currently seeking individuals with experience in:

  • Legal
  • Finance
  • Fund development and fundraising
  • Board governance
  • Healthcare
  • Business Ownership/Management

Just as important as professional expertise is a commitment to collaboration, accountability, and community.

Jim Kurz, Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board

“Being on the board is one way you can give back—alongside volunteering, donating, or giving your time.” – Jim Kurz, Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board

We are building a board that reflects a range of perspectives and experiences, individuals who ask thoughtful questions, bring forward ideas, and understand the responsibility that comes with stewardship.

What Board Members Do

Board members play a vital role in guiding the Foundation’s direction and ensuring strong governance.

This includes:

  • Providing strategic oversight
  • Supporting fundraising and donor engagement
  • Acting as ambassadors within the community
  • Participating in board and committee meetings

It’s meaningful work that requires time, attention, and care, but the impact is tangible.

A Moment of Opportunity

This recruitment period comes at an important time for the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation Board. As we continue to grow and evolve, there is an opportunity to strengthen how we serve Deer Lodge Centre through thoughtful leadership, strong financial stewardship, and a clear vision for the future.

The individuals who join the board now will help shape that path.
