The Honour Roll Gala recognizes members of our community who have demonstrated remarkable spirit, loyalty and outstanding commitment to Deer Lodge Centre, the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, or the Canadian military and our veterans – for and by whom this facility was originally established in 1916.

This year’s gala is a very special occasion. We are inducting not one but two extraordinary individuals into our Honour Roll: Dorothy Dobbie and Bonnie Korzeniowski. At the same time, we are celebrating Deer Lodge Centre’s 100^th anniversary.

2016 Inductees

DOROTHY DOBBIE
Dorothy served in the Canadian House of Commons from 1988 to 1993. A publisher before entering political life, Dorothy was a founder of Association Publications Ltd. She was the first woman to serve as president of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. In 1983, she was named Outstanding Business Citizen of the Year by the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce. Dorothy helped found Pegasus Publications Inc. in 1996, and still serves as its president. She is now the publisher of Manitoba Gardener, Ontario Gardener and Alberta Gardener magazines, and host of The Gardener on CJOB Radio.

BONNIE KORZENIOWSKI
Bonnie served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1999 to 2011. She was a social worker for 20 years before entering political life, and worked in psychogeriatrics for 12 years at Deer Lodge Centre. Bonnie has been involved in organizations such as the Deer Lodge United Church, the Manitoba Human Rights Committee, and the Manitoba Alzheimer’s Society. She served as chair of Health Care Professionals for the Deer Lodge Centre of the Professional Institute of Public Service in Canada. She was also the province’s special envoy for military affairs from 2008 to 2013.
