Deer Lodge Dance Hall Presents: The Roaring Twenties
Imagine an evening of dancing, big bands and incredible food. Jazz music will fill the room while we mix and mingle with friends, old and new. We are celebrating a return to the golden age and the potential for new hope, prosperity, and innovation in our lives.
Welcome to Deer Lodge Centre Foundation’s first annual Deer Lodge Centre Dance Hall.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, this one-of-a-kind event will celebrate the Roaring Twenties of the past and the future. Your evening will include thrilling performances by Ron Paley’s Big Band, swing dancing, drink stations from local vendors, food stations prepared by Chef Ben Kramer, and so much more.
Dance The Night Away
If you haven’t experienced Ron Paley and his big band live, you’ve been missing out! Ron rose to prominence on the local music scene as a composer, arranger, and leader of both big bands and small ensembles. He is a perennial act at the Jazz Winnipeg festival (either with the Ron Paley Big Band or in small ensembles) and has performed in concert with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Ron Paley and his Big Band
The Ron Paley Big Band was formed in 1976, and has since performed numerous jazz concerts and dances, appeared at Expo 86 as part of a western Canadian tour, and travelled widely in Manitoba. We cannot wait to dance all night with Ron and his incredible ensemble of musicians!
We’ll have dance demonstrations and professional dancers on site to help you learn the moves and get in the groove!
Delicious Eats and Drinks!
Once you’ve danced up a storm, you’ll need some refreshments to keep going! Nationally celebrated Chef Ben Kramer will be on hand to craft a series of culinary delights served at food stations throughout the event. If you don’t know Ben, you really should. He has been instrumental in establishing Winnipeg as one of the most vibrant food scenes in North America.

Chef Ben Kramer
His clients have included:
- Raw Almond, a temporary restaurant on the frozen river
- Table for 1200/1201 – the longest dining table in Canada
- Grazing in the Field, a 5-course menu served on a dairy farm
We cannot wait to see what Ben and his amazing team have in store for us!
We’ll also have select “Distinctions” products on hand from Manitoba Liquor Marts for sampling, complimentary welcome cocktails to greet you as you arrive (provided by Capital K Distillery), and more!
